Hypertension and Erectile Dysfunction
The first thing that has to be mentioned is
the cause and affect relation between hypertension (high blood pressure) and Erectile Dysfunction. Many people wrongly assume that Erectile
Dysfunction is a direct cause of having Hypertension. This direct relation is flawed, although both ailments are both highly correlated.
Erectile Dysfunction is very plausible in
patience who suffer from Hypertension. Research has shown that the prevalence of Erectile Dysfunction increases with the time that the patient
suffered from Hypertension. The first reason for this the degradation affect of hypertension on the blood vessel walls of your entire body.
This is especially pronounced in the penis where blood has to move in and out fast and blood vessels must be able to stretch to a very large
degree in order to achieve and maintain an erection.
The second affect of Hypertension of
Erectile performance is related to the cardiovascular disease Vascular Endothelium. It affects the body’s ability to produce nitric oxide
which is fundamental to the regulation of the blood circulation system of the body. Once the body’s ability to generate nitric oxide has been
compromised, the regulation of blood to and from the penis is also compromised thus the onset of Erectile Dysfunction.
Often the treatment of Hypertension in
itself can also be the actual cause of the Erectile Dysfunction. Most medication used to treat Hypertension works by artificially lowering the
blood pressure so that there aren’t any ailments that can be caused by the Hypertension such as the vascular wall degradation as mentioned
earlier. The medication will actually lower the blood pressure which in itself isn’t good for Erectile Dysfunction patients. The medication
will also lower the pressure of blood supplied to the penis thus causing the maintaining and sustaining of an erection difficult.
